Tom Bridgeland [][site]

Interests: Mirror Symmetry, Derived Categories, Moduli Spaces, Hall Algebras

Bio: Tom learnt his trade in Edinburgh before moving to Sheffield in 2004. He spent the years 2011 and 2012 as a Research Fellow at All Souls College, Oxford.

Paul Johnson [][site]

Interests: Gromov-Witten theory, Orbifolds, Hilbert schemes, Partitions

Bio: Paul initially completed his undergraduate at the University of Chicago. Following this he obtained his master’s at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and PhD at the University of Michigan under Yongbin Ruan. He then held various postdoctoral positions at Princeton, Imperial College London and Columbia University. He was associate professor at Colorado State University for one year before moving to the University of Sheffield.

Evgeny Shinder [][site]

Interests: Derived Categories of Coherent Sheaves, Grothendieck Group of Varieties

Bio: Evgeny defended his PhD at Northwestern University under Andrei Suslin. Afterwards he was a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics, University of Bonn, the Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics and the University of Mainz. In 2013-14 he was a Whittaker postdoc at the University of Edinburgh, before coming to Sheffield as a lecturer in 2014.


Sven Meinhardt [][site]

Interests: Donaldson-Thomas Theory, Derived Algebraic Geometry, Mirror Symmetry, Mathematical Physics

Bio: Sven initially completed his diploma at the Humboldt University Berlin. He then moved to the University of Bonn for his PhD under Daniel Huybrechts as well as staying on as a postdoc. Following this he spent time at the Imperial College London and at the University of Oxford. It was here he came in contact with Donaldson-Thomas theory which is now his main research area. Afterwards he completed another postdoc at the University of Wuppertal before coming to Sheffield.

Anna Barbieri []

Interests: Frobenius-like structures, Stability Conditions

Bio: Anna completed her undergraduate at University of Udine, Italy. She then undertook her PhD studies at the University of Pavia, Italy before moving to the University of Sheffield as a postdoc.

Dylan Allegretti []

Interests: Cluster Varieties and Cluster Algebras, Quantum Teichmüller Theory, Mathematical Aspects of Quantum Field Theory and String Theory

Bio: Dylan initially completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago. He then moved to Yale University for his master’s degree and PhD under Alexander Goncharov before coming to Sheffield as a postdoc.

Barbara Bolognese [][site]

Interests: Moduli Spaces of Sheaves on Surfaces, Tropical Geometry, Derived Categories

Bio: Barbara initially completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Rome. Following this she obtained her PhD at Northeastern University under Alina Marian. She held a postdoctoral position at the Fields Institute, Toronto before moving to Sheffield.

Joe Karmazyn [][site]

Interests: Noncommutatuve Algebras, Derived Equivalences, Moduli Constructions to Study and Construct Examples in Algebraic Geometry

Bio: Joe was an undergraduate at St John’s College, Cambridge where he also completed Part III. He then studied his PhD in Edinburgh under the supervision of Michael Wemyss and Iain Gordon. He is now an EPSRC post-doctoral fellow, and he previously held this EPSRC fellowship at the University of Bath before moving to Sheffield.

Rory Potter []

Interests: Derived Categories, Non-Commutative Geometry, Quotient Stacks, Derived McKay Correspondence & Stability Conditions.

Bio: Rory completed his MMath degree at the University of Warwick before starting his PhD at the University of Sheffield.

Eoin Murphy [][site]

Supervisor: Tom Bridgeland

Interests: Hall Algebras, Quiver Representations

Bio: Eoin completed his undergraduate at Trinity College Dublin. He then spent one year doing Part III at the University of Cambridge before coming to the University of Sheffield for his PhD.

Caitlin McAuley []

Supervisor: Tom Bridgeland

Interests: Stability Conditions, Mirror Symmetry

Bio: Caitlin obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Glasgow and completed her master’s in Bonn before coming to Sheffield as a PhD student.

Nebojsa Pavic []

Supervisor: Evgeny Shinder

Interests: Derived Categories, K-Theory, Singularity Categories

Bio: Nebojsa completed his bachelor’s and master’s degree at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. Afterwards he moved to Sheffield to begin his PhD.

Edward Pearce []

Supervisor: Paul Johnson

Interests: Algebraic Geometry, Commutative Algebra, Representation Theory

Bio: Edward completed his undergraduate master’s at the University of Warwick and has just begun studying for a PhD at the University of Sheffield.
